Osvaldo Romberg wurde 1938 in Buenos Aires geboren, lebt und arbeitet in New York, Philadelphia, Isla Grande und Brasilien. Er nahm weltweit an zahlreichen Ausstellungen teil, u. a. in Institutionen wie dem Kunsthistorischen Museum in Wien, dem Kunstmuseum Bonn, dem Ludwig Museum in Köln, dem Sudo Museum in Tokyo, dem Israel Museum in Jerusalem, der XLI. Biennale von Venedig, dem Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, dem ZKM in Karlsruhe und dem Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. Osvaldo Romberg ist Professor an der Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts und Kurator der Slought Foundation, wo er u.a. Retrospektiven von Künstlern wie William Anastasi, Hermann Nitsch, Dennis Oppenheim und Günter Brus präsentierte. 2008 wurden seine Filme am Kunstmuseum Bonn und am Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires gezeigt.
Osvaldo Romberg behandelt in seinen Arbeiten Fragen zu der Analyse, Interpretation und Darstellung von Kunst und Kunstgeschichte. Seine eigene Geschichte, die Umsiedlung zwischen Argentinien, Israel, Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten und sein klares Bekenntnis zu Familie und Lehre spiegeln sich in seiner Kunst wieder.
